Aug. 20th, 2002 08:44 pmWow! The guitar is so much easier to play now. I don't feel like my fingers are going to bleed after half an hour with it. I know everyone kept telling me it was going to hurt a little, but honestly, that was unbelievable. It made so much difference having some work done on it.
Additionally, when I press the strings, I don't have to throw my whole strength into fretting a note to get a reasonable sound from it. Not saying I'm the perfect player now or anything, but I am able to do it regularly, whereas before I could get the F only about 1 in 10 tries at the beginning, and after 5 minutes, it was impossible. I'm really not that much of a wimp, it was a problem with the guitar!
George and I are both getting to the point that you can hear the song we're trying to play, even if it doesn't sound great. I'm very happy with our progress. We've had the thing 4 days, and are on lesson 3, and not doing too bad at all. Now that I'm playing more than 2 strings, I'm really going to have to work on picking my fingers up so I don't dampen the other strings when I'm not using those fingers. I don't have to lean my finger over so far to get the strength to push the strings anymore, so I really should work on proper technique some.
